LANGUAGE SERVICEs

We render your copy into elegant, clear, and concise English, French, or Spanish. Our translation process also includes a review by a bilingual editor. Final proofreading and verification can take place in conjunction with or after the editing phase. We also offer these as standalone services (conditions apply).

quality assurance

Quality in translation refers to the "degree to which the characteristics of the translation fulfill the requires of the agreed-upon specifications" (ASTM F2575-14). Part of our job is to help you determine the specifications that are best suited to your needs. Once we agree on those, we will begin working on your document.

EDITING IS essential to quality assurance

An excellent translator can produce a very good draft of a document, but at that point in the process it remains a draft nonetheless. QA standards often require observing the "four-eyes principle" (also known as the two-person rule). In this case, this means a translation is seen by at least two qualified individuals to ensure most errors are caught and corrected.

EDITING as a standalone service

As a general rule, we decline to review translations produced by other language service providers. Exceptions can be made for high-quality translations that may require or simply benefit from light-to-moderate editing. Any job requiring extensive work will be handled and invoiced as a translation.

WHAT ABOUT post-editing?

Post-editing refers to having a human "fix" machine-generated translation. The technology behind translation engines has improved dramatically in recent years, but some documents may be better suited for post-editing than others in view of the client's requirements and the purpose of the text. The terms under which we provide post-editing services will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

editing is a collaborative task

Experienced bilingual editors pass on their knowledge to younger translators via their corrections, suggestions, and general comments. As two or more translators collaborate over time, that exchange of knowledge hones their skills and gives them a competitive advantage over their peers who work in isolation. Clients also stand to gain from this collaboration: better translators make for better translations.

our use of ai in translation

We are not against applying the right technology and tools to our work. Artificial intelligence (AI) can be an amazing tool—in the right hands. Much like a sewing machine can help a skilled tailor produce beautiful garments faster without necessarily compromising on quality, a skilled translator can leverage an AI-powered translation engine to work faster and in line with client demands.
In any case, our focus remains on providing premium language services: we will make sure AI is used to your benefit—never to cut corners.
